Continuing from my last post about the Xbox One reveal, I wanted to talk a
little more about what happened yesterday at the Microsoft E3 press conference.
More specifically, what didn’t happen. Originally I gave Microsoft the benefit
of the doubt when they raised a number of suspicious red flags. Always On DRM?
How will used games be handled? Why does the Kinect sensor need to always be on
and watching me? Given that the Xbox announcement was only two weeks away from
E3, naturally I assumed th
David Hayter (Original voice actor for Solid Snake):
“Great actor, good man. The game will probably still be excellent. Like New
Coke!”
A lot of people are under the impression this is all an act, and Hayter’s voice

Assault only on Windows 8 devices! That Russian guy should port it FOR GREAT
JUSTICE!’ Like James though, he’s going to do what he’s going to do and it’s
kind of impressive but trying to justify it morally really irks me.
For great justice, indeed.

While it’s sad 520 people out of work, the most staggering thing to take away
from this is that number only represents 18% of their employees. There’s still
over 2000 people still working on games like Farmville.

In 1983, Atari loaded an estimated 13 dump trucks for of broken hardware,
including games (like E.T), in a landfill in New Mexico. Twenty years later, a
game developer hoping to make a documentary about it has been given the okay to
have the site excavated.
As we discontinue Online Pass for our new EA titles, we are also in the process
of eliminating it from all our existing EA titles as well. We heard the feedback
from players and decided to do away with Online Pass altogether.
For those unfamiliar, most EA games shipped with a separate serial that was
required to play games online. If a game was bought used, one would have to also
buy an Online Pass from EA to access online play.
