Divekick's Final Boss is Seth Killian

I honestly don’t know what to make of this game. I mean, I love it. But it's crazy this is being made.

Divekick adds Seth ‘S-Kill’ Killian to roster as its final bossSeth "S-Kill" Killian, fighting game expert, former special advisor at Capcom and now producer at Sony Santa Monica Studio, has joined the increasingly bizarre cast of parody fighting game Divekick....PolygonMichael McWhertor [http://www.polygon.com/2013/5/23/4361088/divekick-adds-seth-s-kill-killian-to-roster-as-its-final-boss]

Yahoo Acquires Gaming Company PlayerScale

PlayerScale, a cross-platform game infrastructure startup that provides tools for games played by 150 million users on platforms such as iOS and Android, announced the acquisition on its site today. And — unlike recent Yahoo acquisitions like Astrid – CEO Jesper Jensen said the company would continue to operate as it has, supporting over 2,600 developers and 4,000 games.

Their sudden push into mobile gaming is rather intriguing. I think we’ll see a lot more games related acquisitions by Yahoo

Xbox One & PS4 Hardware Analysis & Comparison

Both the Xbox One and Playstation 4 have very similar hardware, with the PS4 having a slight edge in terms of raw power, and the Xbox having the edge in power consumption. It’s too early to tell the clear ‘winner’ just yet, but with both consoles using an x86 architecture, it will make most likely porting games to the PC much easier than the last generation of games.

Xbox One Backwards Compatibility

Today’s quote of the day comes from Don Mattrick, head of Microsoft’s interactive entertainment business:

If you’re backwards compatible, you’re really backwards

Microsoft and Sony Diverge on Gaming ‘Cloud’Microsoft and Sony have taken diverging approaches in their expanding war for the hearts and minds of gamers. Yes, their next-generation consoles both offer high-fidelity games, and they can both play music and movies. But the rest is rather different. The Wall Street JournalIan Sherr [ht

Dont Expect a New Alan Wake Anytime Soon

Sam Lake, Creative Director takes to Youtube to talk a little about the future of Remedy and Alan Wake. Sadly it sounds like Alan Wake didn’t sell enough copies to merit a true sequel, but it was received well enough for Microsoft to throw a pile of money their way for a new IP (Quantum Break).

I loved Alan Wake. It was probably one of my favorite games to come out of this generation of titles. And even though I’m disappointed it will be quite some time before I get to play a new game of the fr

Indie developers cannot self-publish on Xbox One

Not a big surprise. I could see them mimicking Steam Greenlight to get more the popular indie titles on the service though.

Wired: Exclusive First Look at Xbox One

Peter Rubin:

We have no idea what the videogame landscape will look like seven years from now, just as we had no idea in 2005 how foundationally streaming and smartphones would change everything. The very concept of any physical media box may well be obsolete within a decade. But even if this is the last true console we ever see, one thing is for sure: Gaming isn’t just games anymore.

Thoughts on the Xbox One

Most people I know that own an Xbox 360 use it to watch Netflix. Most of the people I know that own a Playstation 3 use it primarily as a Blue-Ray player. Sure, they bought games too, but they really dont play them. Attempting to call the Xbox One an entertainment system that just so happens to play games, is a brilliant move by Microsoft. After the conference ended, Reddit was quick to complain they wanted a new console, not a TV remote. The fact being overlooked is you still are getting a con

A Look at CivCraft, a Minecraft Mod

It’s hugely involved, with you mining the ground to gain resources to trade for coins to claim your land. Like a proper game of Civ, major construction involves clicking on the ground and watching the buildings extruding upwards. They’re functional buildings, allowing you to enter and use them, and enhancing them to provide the bonuses to the land.

This feels like the next natural stage of evolution of Minecraft.
