Mostly fluff, but there is something to be said about a publication like WSJ covering the Xbox. It’s a little astounding how far video games have progressed for a new console release to be covered by mainstream culture.

I’m not ashamed to admit how excited I am over the possibility of a new Shaq-Fu game. I just hope this isn’t some crappy IOS game.
12/09/2019 update: There was a new game. And it was bad. The series did not age well.
A slew of articles about the new XCOM game was released this morning, but Andrew Yoon at Shack News sums it up perfectly:
XCOM as it is today can be best summed up as this: Mass Effect, set in the 60s.
Give people a blank piece of paper and ask them to “have fun!” A few might get excited and start writing a poem or sketch a masterpiece. But most will be annoyed, grow bored and give up.
People are quick to point out Minecraft as an exception to this. Sticking with the paper analogy; while most virtual worlds only give you a pencil, Minecraft gives you colored pencils, glitter, and scissors.
