Mark of the Ninja, Walking Dead devs form Campo Santo

Nels Anderson, lead designer of Mark of the Ninja, Sean Vanaman and Jake Rodkin of Telltale’s The Walking Dead (probably most famous for their Idle Thumbs podcast), and artist Olly Moss have come together to form Campo Santo, based in San Francisco, CA. I can’t wait to see what they come up with.

Campo SantoCampo Santo is a small but scrappy video game developer in San Francisco. Our debut game Firewatch is available for PS4, Windows, Mac, and Linux.Campo Santo [http://www.camposantogames.com/a

Andrew Wilson is the new EA CEO

Andre Wilson:

I also believe EA’s strategy is sound. Our focus on our talent, our brands and our platform together with our investment in next-generation consoles, mobile and PC free-to-play, as part of our ongoing transition to digital, is right. But we have plenty of work ahead to ensure our collective success.

The words of former executive vice president of EA Sports and Origin. Notice how PC is lumped together with ‘free-to-play’. Even though Wilson has been with EA for 13 years, I’m sti

Diablo III Real Money Auction House is closing

From John Hight:

But as we’ve mentioned on different occasions, it became increasingly clear that despite the benefits of the AH system and the fact that many players around the world use it, it ultimately undermines Diablo’s core game play: kill monsters to get cool loot. With that in mind, we want to let everyone know that we’ve decided to remove the gold and real-money auction house system from Diablo III.

An Investigation of World of Warcraft Character Names

An interesting look at naming conventions in World of Warcraft. Personally, from an early age, I've found myself becoming prejudiced against people whose usernames began and ended in ‘x’ or included Final Fantasy or Dragon Ball names. Looking at you xX-Sephiroth-Xx69.

Ouya just keeps angering more people

Ouya’s Free the Games promotion has always been such a weird promotion. Instead of promising to just hand $50k to any kickstarter game, a better idea would have been to actually use the money to get other developers on board and fix the problems that currently plague the Ouya ecosystem, instead of outright ignoring existing developers’ complaints as seen in the comments section of the blog post.

Blizzard on World of Warcraft: We'd be lost without casuals

Additionally, Chilton noted that Blizzard was warming to the idea of reconfiguring World of Warcraft as a free-to-play title.

I’ve always wondered how long until WoW went free-to-play. With their recent additions to their online store, and the dwindling population, I expect it’s now only a matter of time before we see a completely free version.

Blizzard on World of Warcraft: We’d be lost without casuals“Audiences always evolve,” says World of Warcraft lead designer Tom Chilton
