Why Virtual Worlds Died

Give people a blank piece of paper and ask them to “have fun!” A few might get excited and start writing a poem or sketch a masterpiece. But most will be annoyed, grow bored and give up.

People are quick to point out Minecraft as an exception to this. Sticking with the paper analogy; while most virtual worlds only give you a pencil, Minecraft gives you colored pencils, glitter, and scissors.
